Looking at the rest of the painting, I'm amazed. The textures you use are brilliant, and I love the mosaic stained-glass look of the water. The sun looks like something straight off a stained glass window. The lighting is perfect; you can almost feel the warmth of the sun and the cool water just looking at it.
I do have to say, though, the anatomy is VERY distracting. It's fine up until the butt, but that's just so very unrealistic that I can't get past it without forcing myself. I think perhaps a subtler line would have suited the subject better and would have drawn less attention away from the beautiful textures and colours of the rest of the painting.
Joke aside, this is a beautiful piece. Love the color palette and the abstract shapes.
The award is well earned, by my reckoning. You capture in paint every word in your description. That ocean and sky are amazing. Congratulations.
